J Cole Addresses Kendrick Lamar Joint Album Speculation

J Cole recently sat down with Lil Yachty where he discussed several things, one being of the well-awaited possibility of he and Kendrick Lamar doing a joint album together. He confirmed that it was going to be a thing, but it has now been scrapped off the table as of now.

“In a nutshell, [Kendrick] had pulled up on me at No I.D.’s spot after we was already building this relationship, and I had these beats at the time and I was playing them for him,” he says. “So he took them and, you know, in that moment, we talked about, ‘Yo, bro, we should do a project.’ At that time he’s not on like that, but I’m f—in’ with him,” he detailed.

“At one point it was a real thing… but time and life, we ain’t never got a chance to like really go in and do it correctly, because that would take time. For us to do something that’s full of our potential, that meets our real potential, you’re gonna need time. At least a year” he explains.

He concluded, “When you got two successful artists with lives and families, that’s hard to do. We put it to bed years ago. But at one point in time, it was a real conversation, for sure.”

The two have both been busy as of recently as Kendrick had released his album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers and also appearing on his cousin Baby Keem’s song “Hillbillies”. J Cole himself has been doing a lot of features for other rappers, one being of Drake’s record “First Person Shooter” from the album For All The Dogs.
