J Cole Apologizes For ‘7 Minute Drill’ Diss Song & Says He Will Remove It From Streaming Services

It looks like J Cole is waving in the white flag as he has just recently went on stage and apologized for his part in responding back to Kendrick Lamar’s verse in the song, “Like That.” Opening up to his fans on stage at the Dreamville Festival, he shared how proud he was of his latest project, Might Delete Later, but not of his diss towards Lamar.

“I’m so proud of that project except for one part. There’s one part of that s–t that makes me feel like, ‘Man, that’s the lamest s–t I ever did in my f—ing life.’ And, I know this is not what a lot of people wanna hear. I can hear my n—as up there right now like, ‘Nah, don’t do that.’ But, I gotta keep it 100 with y’all. I damn near had a relapse.”

He continued, “I was conflicted because I know my heart and I know how I feel about my peers. These two n—as that I’ve been blessed to stand beside in the game, let alone chase they greatness. So, I felt conflicted, because I know I really don’t feel no way, but the world wanna see blood…So, I say all of that to say, in my spirit of trying to get this music out, I’m not even gonna lie to y’all, I moved in a way that I feel spiritually feel bad on. Like, I tried to jab my n—a back and I tried to keep it friendly.”

He then went on to praise Lamar as he said: “But at the end of the day, when I listen to it…and I see the talk, that s–t don’t sit right with my spirit. That s–t disrupts my f—ing peace…in the midst of me doing that…and trying to find a little angle and downplay this n—a’s f—ing catalog and his greatness. I wanna say right now tonight, how many people think Kendrick Lamar is one of the greatest muthaf—kas that ever touched a f—ing microphone? Dreamville, y’all love Kendrick Lamar, correct? As do I.”

After speaking, Cole closed the show with his song from his 2014 Forest Hill Drive album, “Love Yourz”.
