It looks like rapper J Cole is fired up as he has just responded back to Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” Verse in his latest album, Might Delete Later. The album comes as a surprise release, but he made sure to send a response back to Kendrick in the song titled “7 Minute Drill”.
In “7 Minute Drill”, Cole comes for Kendrick’s albums where he said the lyrics:
“I got a phone call, they say that somebody dissing / You want some attention, it come with extensions / My dog like, “Say the word,” he on bulls–t, he itchin’ / Done put in so much work in these streets, he got pension / I told him chill out, how I look havin’ henchman? / If shots get to poppin’, I’m the one doin’ the clenchin’,” he spits to acknowledge of the beef. It also nods to Kendrick speaking of his bodyguard 2 Teez and Cole saying he has someone of his own.
He then says the lyrics “ I came up in the ‘Ville, so I’m good when it’s tension/ He still doing shows but fell off like ‘The Simpsons’ / Your first s–t was classic, your last s–t was tragic / Your second s–t put n—as to sleep but they gassed it / Your third s–t was massive and that was your prime / I was trailing right behind and I just now hit mine.”
He continues to say, “He averaging one ‘Heart’ verse like every 30 months or something / If he wasn’t dissing, then we wouldn’t be discussing nothin’ / Blood don’t make me have to smoke this n—a ’cause I f–k with him / But push come to shove on this mic I will humble him,” he rapped playing onto Lamar’s “Humble” song.
Towards the end of the song, Cole spits his love for Kendrick, hence why he didn’t go full throttle on him and thus the exchange between the two are only competitive and not to be taken too serious.
“I’m hesitant, I love my brother, but I’m not gonna lie / I’m powered up for real, that s–t would feel like swattin’ a fly”
As J Cole has shot back at Kendrick, it appears that Drake has yet to respond, if he chooses to do so. Check out “7 Minute Drill” below:
