It looks like things between the Tuohy family and Michael Oher have gotten even more complicated. Sean Tuohy and Leigh Anne Tuohy have responded to Oher’s lawsuit where they denied his claims that he was tricked into making them his conservators as he thought they were adoption papers.
In their response, they stated that “they never intended to, and in fact never did, take any assumed legal custody” of Michael Oher when they first brought him in their home. They also “vehemently deny” that they told Michael “that they intended to legally adopt him.”
They explained that even with them referring to him as their son, they used it “in the colloquial sense” because they felt that he was “like a son” to them.
The documents further stated: “They have never intended that reference to be viewed with legal implication. vehemently deny that the use of the word ‘son’ caused Michael any irreparable harm, loss, either past present or future or damages.”
