DDG sat down with Jason Lee on The Jason Lee Show, where spoke on his life with his significant other, Halle Bailey and opened up about their relationship and why they chose to keep the pregnancy a secret.
“We weren’t aiming for a baby, but it just kinda happened,” he explained. “Both of us have the same interest in being parents. And I feel like she always wanted to be a mom. We always kind of just give off that energy, and I always wanted a kid. So, from there we just decided to go through with it.”
“I think it was more so, like, people were already giving us negative vibes. So it’s like, why let them know and then let them make her pregnancy stressful?”
DDG also spoke of their first date where he explained how the two got into contact with each other and began talking. He spoke of Bailey posting a 50 Cent song where after DDG explained that he “slid” into her DMs and messaged her first.
“We start talking, and then I start texting back and forth, and then you know I had to break the ice ’cause I wasn’t tryna be that n—a that just text, So I threw a Facetime on randomly. Shirt off, and everything,” he recalled. “She was in the car with her cat and her cat was in the car with her and I guess she was on the way home, but she answered the Facetime and then I set up a date.”
He further explained how their first date went, sharing that she “led the date.”
“I just knew of her type s–t , and they told me she was following me, so I was just like I’m trying to date at this point.” he explained of them knowing each other. “My expectation of her when I first met her was like, ‘she gonna be super closed off.’ I didn’t expect her to be as cool as she was. Our first date was great, she really led the whole date ‘ cause I’m like introverted. She like sparking the questions, talking, looking hella nice. She invited me to go to the movies and it was like she was leading the conversation, so I felt like that’s what really captured me. Like ‘damn she really cool as f–k.”
