This has been a busy week for hip hop as rapper J Cole has just surprised listeners with a new release of an album titled Might Delete Later. This comes after his last release in 2021 with the project The Off Season that bred singles such as “My Life” featuring 21 Savage and Morray, “Pride Is The Devil” featuring Lil Baby and “The Climb Back.”
The project was first teased back on Mar 18 with Cole releasing a Vlog titled “Might Delete Later Vol. 2” and him putting out some music on the video. With Might Delete Later the album contains 12 tracks and features artists such as Aril Lennox, Gucci Mane, Young Dro, Cam’Ron, Ab-Soul, Bas, Central Cee and Daylyt.
The track of the hour seems to be his last track titled “7 Minute Drill” as it is aimed as a hit back to Kendrick Lamar’s aim from “Like That” after K.dot called out Drake and Cole and debunked the whole “Big 3” conversation. Cole addressed Lamar in the song as a whole, but really went for him at the start saying:
“He still doin’ shows, but fell off like the Simpsons / Your first s–t was classic, your last s–t was tragic / Your second s–t put n—as to sleep, but they gassed it / Your third s–t was massive and that was your prime”
Another controversial track from the project is “Pi” where many feel it is another shot at Lamar as he raps the lyrics:
“Is you a demon or is that demeanor for the ‘Gram? Tell us/They plead the fifth, I’m seeing hints of a trans fella/In cancel culture’s vicinity, he’s no killer, trust me/Beneath his chosen identity, there is still a p—y, period”
Within the album, Cole has also made sure to tease listeners of his upcoming album, “The Fall Off”. Check out Might Delete Later below:
